U of O professor accused of hosting anti-Semitic website
Group files complaint over 'wild theories' that blame Jews for 9/11

Professor Chossudovsky says research on his website is 'anti-Zionist, not anti-Semitic.'

A Jewish group has filed a complaint to the University of Ottawa against one of its professors after the discovery of content on his website that blames Jews for the terrorist attacks on the United States, and claims the numbers who died at Auschwitz are exaggerated.

The website, www.globalresearch.ca, also reprints articles from other writers that accuse Jews of controlling the U.S. media and masterminding the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Other postings suggest Israel, the U.S. and Britain are the real perpetrators of the recent attacks on London.

The site, which is not hosted by the university, is run by Michel Chossudovsky, a controversial left-leaning economist, and came to the attention of B'nai Brith Canada after public complaints to the advocacy group and the Citizen.

"The material on the site is full of wild conspiracy theories that go so far as to accuse Israel, America and Britain of being behind the recent terrorist bombings in London," said Frank Dimant, executive vice-president of B'nai Brith Canada. "They echo the age-old anti-Semitic expressions that abound in the Arab world, which blame the Jews for everything from 9/11 to the more recent tsunami disaster."

The organization singles out a discussion forum, moderated by Mr. Chossudovsky, that features a subject heading called "Some Articles On The Truth of the Holocaust." The messages have titles such as "Jewish Lies of Omission (about the 'Holocaust')," "Jewish Hate Responsible For Largest Mass Killing at Dachau," and "Did Jews Frame the Arabs for 9/11?"

Another posting suggests the number of Jews who died at Auschwitz during the Second World War is inflated.

None of the postings is written by Mr. Chossudovsky himself.

Under Canadian law, website owners can be liable for material they knowingly post, even if they haven't produced it themselves.

"I know this isn't his own writing, but he's certainly got a responsibility for the website, which, I checked, is registered in his name," said Anita Bromberg, B'nai Brith's legal counsel and human rights co-ordinator.

The site identifies Mr. Chossudovsky as the director of the Centre for Research on Globalization and editor of globalresearch.ca. His wife, Micheline Ladouceur, is listed as associate editor. They manages the site out of Montreal.

The site does not mention Mr. Chossudovsky's position at the university, nor does his website at the U of O refer to globalresearch.ca. However, an Internet search of Mr. Chossudovsky's name shows he is listed as an adviser for a Swedish-based group called the Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research. Its website contains a biography of Mr. Chossudovsky, his contact information at the U of O and a link to globalresearch.ca.

When reached in South Korea, where he is on a research trip, Mr. Chossudovsky said the offending messages were removed from the forum after he was made aware of them by the Citizen.

But as of late yesterday, some of the postings remain on the site. A discussion thread about 9/11, contained a message that casts doubt on the Auschwitz death count. Other postings under a forum on globalization have titles such as "The Hilarious Auschwitz Story" and "The HolyCo$t Lie is Finished."

Mr. Chossudovsky indicated that despite monitoring the forum "periodically," he did not know about the inflammatory messages, even though they had been posted since March. He added that while he has received complaints before about offensive content on the site, the volume of messages on the forum makes it difficult for him to control what is posted.

"We don't choose the articles that go up, and when we see that there are texts which are racist or hateful, we do, to the best of our abilities, try to remove them."

Mr. Chossudovsky described himself as being of Jewish descent, and said he has relatives who were Holocaust victims. "I'm the first person to withdraw any kind of hate material directed against the Jewish people."

He went on to defend the reprinted articles that have also sparked complaints, saying they are legitimate commentary representing views that are "anti-Zionist, not anti-Semitic."

"It's an analysis of Israeli policy which we don't support," said Mr. Chossudovsky, an antiwar commentator and an outspoken critic of U.S. and Israeli policies.

He also noted the site contains a disclaimer saying the articles posted don't necessarily reflect his views as editor.

Jewish students at the University of Ottawa said they have so far received no complaints about the site, but maintain Mr. Chossudovsky has not gone far enough to ensure the website is free of material they consider offensive.

"As an organizer of the site, especially if he is of Jewish descent and his family has gone through the atrocities of the Holocaust, he should take a more active interest in what is posted and published on the site," said Nicole Advocat, an executive member of the university's Jewish Students Association.

Ms. Advocat, a second-year international relations major, worries other students will stumble on to the site.

"Students will come here looking for research information on the topic of globalization. I know as a globalization student, I'm often looking for different sites that can help me find articles and relevant information. And for students who aren't educated about the Holocaust, they could look at this information and say, 'This is the truth.' "

Ms. Bromberg said despite Mr. Chossudovsky's efforts to distance the website from the university, there is a chance students could happen upon it.

"The bottom line is, he is a professor at a leading university, which gives him credibility. ... It worries me what students, who may be very ill-equipped, face. He has an obligation as a professor towards the young minds he teaches."

B'nai Brith is monitoring the website closely, and putting pressure on the U of O to act. "His connection with the university might put some responsibility on the university to hold him to a certain standard of acceptable civil discourse," said Ms. Bromberg.

A U of O spokesman said the university has not yet received a complaint from B'nai Brith, and is not prepared to intervene. "Until we're approached, it's something that we just don't see a role for us to be involved in," said Bob LeDrew.

A specialist in globalization and the economics of developing countries, Mr. Chossudovsky, 59, has a reputation for producing radical critiques often out of step with the views of his colleagues.

Since 1968, when he left his native Switzerland to take a position at the U of O, Mr. Chossudovsky has produced research that keeps him on the margins of mainstream academia, but wins praise from anti-establishment intellectuals such as Noam Chomsky.

While he is rarely quoted in mainstream academic journals, Mr. Chossudovsky is a popular figure among anti-globalization activists, and is widely quoted in newspapers. He writes regularly for the French-language monthly Le Monde diplomatique, and his books, published by a small printing house in Britain, have been translated into 11 languages.

Students who take his courses rave about his unorthodox views, going so far as to dub him "Canada's Chomsky."

More recently, Mr. Chossudovsky's research has turned his attention to terrorism. He has written articles accusing the U.S. of plotting to conquer the world with Britain and Israel, and suggesting Osama bin Laden is a CIA asset.

A forthcoming book entitled America's "War on Terrorism" In the Wake of 9/11 is described on globalresearch.ca as an expose that "blows away the smokescreen, put up by the mainstream media, that 9/11 was an 'intelligence failure.' "

But even sympathetic colleagues familiar with his work admit they are uncomfortable with many of his ideas. [Emphasis. added - FT]

"Among people who work on terrorism, there certainly is not much that resembles his work," said Michael Dartnell, a political scientist at York University. "The thing that disturbs me about what he's doing is there is a conspiratorial element to it. And I can't prove or disprove it."

Nonetheless, added Mr. Dartnell, Mr. Chossudovsky's ideas reflect a public sentiment that is suspicious of the motives of government.

"He wants, probably for very sincere reasons, to formulate a substantive critique of what the U.S. government is doing. I'm just not really clear that he's successful in doing that."

Torontonians fight anti-Semitism

TORONTO -- Elizabeth Comper was watching the news one night and was horrified by a spate of anti-Semitic incidents in her own hometown of
Toronto: swastikas drawn on doors and cars, defiled gravestones, ugly graffiti.

So the 59-year-old former elementary school teacher cornered her husband in the bathroom the next morning and insisted he do something.

Tony Comper listened. As president and CEO of the Bank of Montreal, Comper, 60, is one of the most influential financial leaders in North America. His wife knew he had the connections and persuasive powers to make a difference.

“I was watching as they interviewed Jewish children and I thought: Oh my gosh, how must they feel about it. And then I really thought it was important, how they felt, their fears; it was our problem, too, it wasn’t just a Jewish problem,” Mrs. Comper, a Protestant, said during an interview at the bank’s executive conference room in downtown Toronto.

That morning chat led to the recent launching of Fighting Anti-Semitism Together. The coalition is the first in Canada comprised of non-Jewish members of the business community to fight anti-Semitism.

The executive vice president of B’nai Brith Canada, Frank Dimant, said the project is giving “a sense of comfort” to the country’s nearly 350,000 Jews.

The number of anti-Semitic incidents reported to B’nai Brith’s hot line reached a record 857 last year in Canada, where numerous white supremacist, skin head and neo-Nazi agroups are active. That was a jump of 47 percent from 2003 and a 295 percent spike since 1994.

By comparison, the Anti-Defamation League reported in April that anti-Semitic acts in the United States increased 17 percent in 2004.
Most Jewish groups say such incidents in all countries are widely underreported because Jews fear repercussions.

“My wife Elizabeth and I believe that in the end, this is a crisis that must be resolved by non-Jews,” Comper, a Roman Catholic, said in a speech before the Empire Club of Canada, the country’s oldest and most prestigious speakers forum.

“Non-Jews must join the battle against what has been described sadly, but accurately, as the oldest and the longest of hatreds,” he said.

The speech provoked some tears and one of the longest standing ovations ever, said the organization’s president, Bart Mindszenthy. “Even longer than the ovations for the Dalai Lama, Bill Gates and Ronald Reagan.”

Mrs. Comper’s first idea was to offer a reward leading to an arrest in the incidents she had seen reported on TV. But as she and her husband talked with Jewish friends, they decided they could do more. They started calling other business leaders.

“We asked them two things,” Comper said. “One of which was: Would you be prepared to lend your personal name and your company’s name in visible support - stand up and be counted And two, would you give us $10,000 to help fund the development material ”

They signed up 21 business leaders, including John Hunkin, CEO of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and Timothy J. Hearn, chairman and president of Imperial Oil Ltd.

The government also has reacted to the rise in anti-Semitic acts. In March, it deported Ernst Zundel, a white supremacist who is author of a book called “The Hitler We Loved and Why” and denies the Holocaust occurred. He was sent back to his native Germany, where he faces charges of inciting hatred.

The first project undertaken by FAST is a four-part DVD series - “Choose Your Voice” - to be released in September in Ontario schools.

The video shows three Holocaust survivors, a former white supremacist, a woman who witnessed the 1994 genocide in Rwanda and a black hockey player who suffered racism talking about their experiences.

The business group hopes such educational materials will discourage anti-Semitic incidents like one earlier this year involving students at a private school that shocked the Toronto community.

Three 10th graders at an all-boys school created Internet chat rooms named the “Gas Chamber” and “the Reichstag” on a student site, where they posted old images of Jews being tortured and sent to gas chambers.

When students at a nearby all-girls school complained, the boys responded with e-mails calling one of the girls a Jew “who should be thrown in an oven with the rest of them” and a “hooknosed parasite.”

The three boys - one of whom is Jewish - were expelled and four others were suspended for knowing about the chat rooms and not telling.

The Compers hope to touch youngsters like them with their DVD.

In the video, a Jewish man recalls how as a youngster, he was beaten by a bunch of thugs.

“And he’s laying there and he looks up and he sees a lady looking down the window at him and he says in the video: `I forgave the perpetrators years ago. I have never, ever been able to forgive that lady that left me, a 5-year-old laying on the grass, just left me there,”’ Mrs. Comper said.

“So we’re trying to teach kids, too, that to witness it and to be silent is not proper.”

Jewish Attack on Chossudovsky presages an end to freedom of logic

By John Kaminski

Dear Paola.

We have to hide in the light. There's no escaping them in the darkness. That's where they live. Everything must be public.

If the Chossudovsky case is lost, it means the end of freedom of logic, the first step toward a thought control that even we have never imagined. What will we do if there's a law saying we must obey the rabbi or we will be put to death? It is the new inquisition (a worn out phrase), operated by monsters, from the Leo Strauss School of Lying.

I better write something about this fast. Religion is a disease that is used to exploit people and commit crimes.

Best wishes,
John K.

Point of reference:

For the rest of the story read http://www.canada.com/ottawa/ottawacitizen/news/story.html?id=daad3a9e-c2a0-48ea-9680-713f341e0d7a

In the battle to draw an accurate picture of the world, this is where the rubber meets the road.

And the question for our times be ..... Will unchecked Jewish hysteria, which exploits the finest techniques of public relations to preserve martyrdom status as an invisible barrier to criticism, result in the end of free speech for all the peoples of this planet?

In Canada, if you ask that question, you can be kidnapped from your home on a trumped up charge, held in solitary confinement for two years and not be allowed to see the evidence against you, then deported to another country to go through the same process.

The attack on Global Research and Professor Michel Chossudovsky of the University of Ottawa represents an expansion of activity by the Jewish social gestapo into the real fabric of the as-yet unpolluted flow of news that takes place on the Internet. Not so incidentally, Global Research is one of the finest uncorporate news sites on the web. It doesn't dabble in conspiracy theory and presents the finest news writers on the net doing the stories prostituted corpomedia are supposed to be doing.

Solid news stories by highly regarded commentators like Mike Whitney, Ghail Hassan, DU expert Leuren Moret and many others give Global Research an impact that is regarded by many in cyberspace to be the standard in a web news forum. Not a daily digest, it culls the best pieces by the best writers from the developing collection of news websites that leave corporate TV news in the dust.

The attack on Global Research is a recurring social policy of Jewish organizations throughout the world which singles out those who dare disagree with their falsified record of history, and wind up getting convictions and jail sentences because in many countries, Jews have passed laws making it a crime "to defame the memory of the dead."

These laws are exactly what Huxley and Orwell talked about, and they are an unmistakable harbinger of the death of free speech. Why can't we argue about whether the Germans gassed anybody? The empirical records say they didn't. Hysterical Jews have created a religion out of this mawkish Hollowhoax, and erected temples to their misery throughout the world, using government money, of course.

The sinister psychological torture of Ernst Zundel these past few years has been an exquisite pastiche of Jewish influence totally dominating the Canadian government resulting in Star Chamber proceedings in which Zundel was repeatedly brought to court and not allowed to confront his accusers. Now he's in Germany, getting more of the same.

Now Chossudovsky faces the same fate, and the freedom of news on the Internet rides with him.

The only defense for libel is truth. Chossudovsky stands accused of publishing writers that wrote of "Jews of controlling the U.S. media and masterminding the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001."

If this ever came to trial, and the courts were fair, Chossudovsky would win in a walk, because his journalistic standards are high, and these stories are true. But we know the courts aren't fair.

So the question then becomes, if he's convicted, or permanently harassed like Zundel, then the law takes control of what we can think. And that, my friends, is surely the end of our even attempting to be fully-functioning humans.

This could very well be the last battle before the extinction of freedom of speech, when even to think certain thoughts will become a crime.

And based on what has happened to Ernst Zundel in the totally Zionized Canadian justice system, there is no reason to think that the realistic prospects for freedom of speech — and thought — are good.
