Subject: Kundgebung "60 Jahre Befreiungslüge - Schluß mit dem Schuldkult" am Alexanderplatz, 08. Mai 2005

Diesen 70 unerschrockenen, hehren Patrioten gilt unser aller Hochachtung, unser aller Verneigung!

Here's a translation of another of Horst Mahler's provocative essays which
might interest our friends who do not read German - J Damon

Capitalism, Democracy and Demographics

The demographic catastrophe is here.  In Central Europe, the statistical average number of children desired has now declined to an average of "one and a half" per household, while the actual birthrate is still lower and sinking.  The calamity facing the German people has long been a topic monopolized by the extreme Right.  Recently, however, under the stress of collapsing welfare budgets, it has forced its way into the discussions of the Democrats as well.  The cause of this calamity is "democracy" itself, for the simple reason that the democratic system is the political manifestation of the capitalistic system.

Democracy is the rule of the entire population through voluntary participation in contracts and elections.  In our everyday affairs democracy seems to be an arrangement among equals, but in actual fact it is a relationship of extreme inequality.  At its core, as at the core of every form of class rule, is the relationship of command and obey.  He who gives the orders is the master, he who obeys is the servant.  The master is the "democratizer" while the servant is the "democratized."

The servant is obviously unequal in the relationship, therefore a
democrat.  The relationship is reflected in the American populist quip that "We are all free and equal, it's just that some of us are more free and equal than others."  Both master and servant support democracy because this particular relationship is the source of their social existence.  He who is neither master nor servant, neither democrat nor democratized, represents a real danger for democracy.

What is dangerous for democracy is also dangerous for capitalism.  The economic analog of democracy is the process by which human capital is converted into labor and labor is converted into goods and services which are then converted back into still more money.  The increase in value within the capitalist process corresponds directly to the increase in power of the democratic process.  Dispossession of the masses by the economic means of production and political means of governance is a foregone conclusion. The two are parts of a single process that is simply described twice, once in economic and once in political language.

In its culmination in the capitalistic system, bourgeois society is not capable of abolishing poverty and misery, despite its immense wealth. Friedrich Engels modified the Marxist axiom of increasing misery with the observation that in the long term, although the consumption of goods might not decline, overall insecurity among the workers must necessarily increase.

This insecurity is not the only thing that has developed, however: not just Wertverelendung (cultural impoverishment co-inciding with growing material consumption.)  In the overall, long continuing growth phase of capital among the proletarian masses, something else has now appeared.  In the present mature stagnation of the capitalist means of production, material impoverishment is spreading again as well.  Mature capitalism has entere the phase of Güterverelendung, or shrinking consumption of goods per worker.

In other words, capitalism has entered the final phase of absolute impoverishment.  System-induced, universal impoverishment becomes absolute when there is a decrease not just in consumption of goods per worker, but in the actual number of workers as well, and their death rate becomes higher than their birthrate.  Our present calamity shows that the maturity of capitalism is in fact the creeping death of nations, in the form of the gradual extinction of the labor force.

He who does not want to discuss capitalism and the accompanying spread of impoverishment should not speak of demography; he should keep his mouth shut and sit in the corner.  Now that the demographic catastrophe is evident to all, the catastrophe of the democratic system is predictable.  The consummated victory of the democratic- capitalistic system has left these unmistakable identifying  calamities:

- The homogenization of the world into indistinguishable geographic sectors of production and marketing;

 -The deculturization of nations into mere populations, by immigration from formerly culturally distinct regions;

-The ever more frequent displacement of highly skilled labor, both men and women, from an elevated proletarian status into the ranks of the subproletarian unemployed.

-The disappearance of children and child-rich families as the desired sociological norm and true measure of human worth.

To be sure, the capitalist state does not desire such impoverishment, either relative or absolute. However, it must of necessity play a proletarian role. The state is the servant of capital, not a free agent. Capital has greatly expanded the state's capacity for domestic exploitation.  It has subordinated the state to its own interest, turning it into a tax collecting nursemaid whose mission is to pay off the national debt while providing necessities to the masses.

"Democracy" is a foreign word for the German people, implying foreign rule.He who does not want to use the power inherent in our constitution to sweep capitalism away has no right to criticize it.  He should just keep his mouth shut about the demographic crisis and preservation of our German nation.

Subject: Another Case of Auschwitz Amnesia

Peddie remembers Holocaust's horrors

By: Marisa Maldonado , Staff Writer

05/06/2005

Holocaust survivor Frida Herskovits spoke to eighth-grade students at the Upper Freehold Middle School and at The Peddie School.

HIGHTSTOWN — Frida Herskovits does not remember how long she walked from Auschwitz to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp during the "death march" — only that it was cold because she had no coat and no shoes.
And she cannot recall how many of those fellow prisoners did not survive the Holocaust — she only said stacks of their bodies looked "like a building."

Where were these 'bodies' stacked, I wonder?

Ms. Herskovits, a 79-year-old Monroe resident, spoke to students at The Peddie School about how she was shipped with her mother, father and nine siblings to from their home in Czechoslovakia to Auschwitz in Poland — a journey from which only she and a brother and sister returned.

"There is no psychiatrist who could take that (pain) off," said Ms. Herskovits, who also is participating in the Second Generation Holocaust Education Fund's Adopt-a-Survivor program at Hightstown High School, where high school freshmen form relationships with a Holocaust survivor. "People have to be strong."

Her close-knit family left Czechoslovakia in 1944 and were shipped to Auschwitz in cargo trains, after five years of not being able to attend school simply because she was Jewish. Some neighbors offered to hide Ms. Herskovits and her brother, but her mother wanted the entire family to be together.

Ms. Herskovits' father, a soldier in World War I, said "That's not good" when he recognized their arrival destination, Poland. The family's situation deteriorated quickly.

At the camp, the 17-year-old had to strip naked and have her head shaved by Nazis. The Nazis also tattooed a number on her, A1679.

An enterprising individual should check this number in the Auschwitz Chronicle, if they have a copy at hand.

She and the other prisoners then were divided into young people who could work and those who would be sent to the crematorium to be gassed to death.

And she knew this 'when', exactly?  Then, or now....?

"Anybody they didn't like, they put them on the side and took them to the crematorium," Ms. Herskovits said. "Nobody was there to stop them, and nobody came to help us."

Does this mean to imply that the Nazis 'liked' her?

The sick, elderly and babies were frequent targets for the Nazis. Ms. Herskovits remembered one soldier who tossed a baby into the air and shot it, causing gasps from the high school students.

Gasp.  The old 'soldier tossing Jewish babies in the air routine again, as if they had nothing better to do with their time.  This sounds like a rather poor rehash of the WW I stories claiming German soldiers cut the hands off Belgian babies.

Chris Piccolella, a freshman at Peddie, said such images helped him get a better sense of the Holocaust's horrors than reading a book.

Poor Chris!~

"Here, I pictured myself (in the Holocaust)," he said. "I pictured one of my family members. I thought how I'd feel, and I just wanted to cry."

A complete void of emotion was what happened for Ms. Herskovits and her fellow prisoners. The lack of nourishment — she and the rest of the prisoners only had some soup and a slice of bread each night — made it hard to think and communicate, she said.

Yet it apparently was enough to ensure that she would survive, after all...
"I don't even know the person who I slept with in the same bed," she said.

That is usually a comment one expects to hear from hookers.
She later walked to Bergen-Belsen through the winter of 1945 with other prisoners. The Nazis shot anyone who could not keep pace.

If the Nazis were so terrible and shooting all these people, why did she volunteer to go with them when they vacated Auschwitz?  Poor Chris never thought to broach this subject, because he has not been indoctrinated with historical truth, but lies and error.

When the camp was freed on April 15, 1945, Ms. Herskowits soon became ill with fluid in her lungs and a feeling of "needles in my stomach." She was taken to Sweden, where nuns cared for her for a year.

But not one kind word for the nuns from Ms Herskowits.

After living in Israel for seven years and Cyprus for a brief period, she moved to the United States. But surviving the Holocaust has made her a stronger Jew, she said. She thinks her religion gives her a sense of direction in her life.

Yes, it led her in the direction of the United States, where money is to be made for lecturing on the holocaust...

"(People with) no religion, they stand in the middle of the ocean, they have so many directions to go," she said.

Now she sees Auschwitz as a "cemetery" for the family members who were killed by the Nazis. She visited the place in 1994 and said honoring her family's memory helped her return to their grave.

Along with a little media attention...

"They're not buried there, because their ashes were scattered," she said. "But ... I would give up everything, just to have my family back."

And she knows their ashes were scattered because....?

She encouraged the students to listen to their parents and to act kindly toward one another, one thing they can do to stop hate from multiplying in the world.

Hate=criticizing the Jews or questioning their tall tales

"You're the future of the United States," Ms. Herskowits told the students. "I don't want any human being to go through what I had to go through. I want a better world for...

And so on and so forth.
