Iranian youths have the same
problems that afflict anyone growing up - Sturm und Drang
years. Students at universities attempt to act within an
acceptable public moral code, something the western
democracies have long ago rejected as too oppressive.
Law
students at The University of Adelaide, for example, pride
themselves in stating publicly they will meet on a weekend
to get drunk - and this kind of behaviour is encouraged by
the authorities on grounds that any interference would
limit a student's freedom. Iranian students have a strong
religious guide within - the
greatest Jihad - the combat with the self! Under the
influence of the USA, the western 'democracies' have given
the green light to its up-coming generation to embrace
consumerism-hedonism with a vengeance and so to
self-destruct.

Adelaide Airport, 14.00 hours, 27 February 2006

Well packaged and covered with red 'fragile' labels, the alleged murder weapon-
a 1:75 scaled model of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Krema II - was accepted as
unaccompanied luggage. Weighing in at 36 kg this meant that an excess of 6kg
had to be paid. This done, the three boxes were then taken to the oversized
check-in counter where we had to open one box so that a gadget could be
inserted to test it for explosive content. Of course there was none to be
found - but the model itself is 'explosive' to those who still believe, as
does the current guru of 'Holocaust believers' Robert Jan van Pelt, that this
model represents the 'absolute centre of evil', where Germans during 1943-44
gassed over a million Jews and non-Jews.
The new
Adelaide
Airport building is similar in
design to that of
Harare Airport,
Zimbabwe. That means it is not the
latest design available and so
Adelaide received a dated design, but
still it is an improvement on the previous model. Take this fact together
with the delayed opening on account of having obtained a cheaper - and
totally inappropriate - fuelling system that needed to be replaced, then we
can see how our cherished western value system of getting things done with
utmost perfection is disintegrating.
Why? The international
economic rationalists who oversaw the project wished to save money and
therefore opted for a US-designed and built fuel system that was cheaper but
worthless for the airport.
Slowly Australians are being
prepared for a situation where privatisation, especially of essential
services, will develop a social fabric that is not inclusive but rather
exclusive - excluding the majority of citizens from sharing in the wealth
that is unquestionably to be had from Australia's vast human and mineral
resources. Through the usual mechanism of taking on overseas loans and then
having to repay the loan and interest at unnatural - and unnecessary -
levels, we impoverish not only ourselves but also those that come after us -
up to three generations, if not beyond that.
The Airport fiasco reflects how
the control of
Australia's social and economic fabric is
slipping into non-Australian hands. How ironic that the still partially
Australian-owned international carrier, Qantas, still slogans along with 'I
still call
Australia home!' Is that a hint it will
stop doing this in some near distant future? In this respect the people of
Iran are better off because they can
still claim 'I still call
Iran home!'
