Subject: Prozac

Fredrick,

Speaking of this medication, let me tell you this little piece of info. which could further shed some light on your Prozac suggestion. Back in Canada, and I believe in the North American pharmacy system in general, in the dispensary area, there is always a shelf which is very handy and near to the pharmacist's counter where he/she dispenses medications. This shelf is usually called the hot items shelf or the fast going items shelf. Almost every pharmacy has it, of course depending on how busy this pharmacy is. The types of medications on that shelf might slightly vary from one drug store to another. For example, if the store is in a neighborhood that has, say, a lot of senior citizens, then odds are you'll find some antidiabetics, and some anti-hypertensives (medications for blood pressure) on that shelf, and so on. But almost always, without exception, that shelf will have; antibiotics (especially in the winter season), but more consistently would be the anti-anxiety (sedatives, like Valium), and anti-depressants (like Prozac). Need I say more that your very observant eye was right on, Prozac and the likes are all over.

This sedatives, and anti-depressant drugs phenomena can be understood, partly, if we realize that what used to be considered as painful human experiences and accepted as such and as part of life's trials and tribulations, are now identified (in modern western societies in general, but in the USA in particular to a great extent, and from there to the rest of the world to a much lesser extent) as illnesses, given all sorts of fancy medical names, and "treated" as medical problems.

So, when humans insist on feeling what still is considered by some as natural human feelings, like guilt, over the ills they have done, or they have participated in explicitly or implicitly, they become a "case" for treatment. And guilt (as one among many human feelings like sympathy, compassion, sadness, pain, etc) which humans thought is one way of asserting their uniqueness as humans and their difference from wild beasts, is now an illness that can be cured.

So, a woman (or a man for that matter) or a mother who sees on TV the pictures of "smart" bombs falling on the heads of mothers like her and children like hers blowing them to pieces, and is horrified by it, or those who see the brutal beating of a black man by a bunch of white policemen and are pained by it, or who see on TV how the "red Indians" live in the "mother of all democracies" and are saddened by it, etc. are all cases for treatment.

And the good news, we are told, is that it is all due to some bio-chemical reaction in the brain, and not to worry it is all fixable because they have "discovered" just the right chemical (pill) that will regain the "bio-chemical" balance to the brain. This is insane. It is no wonder people are on Prozac, no wonder at all.

Those WMD will keep on marching till they reach Egypt. For Egypt is the big Prize. No Empire on the face of this earth did not have Egypt in mind as its most prestigious prize, from Alexander the great till Bush the criminal. If the Empire is in control of Egypt, it feels it is in control of the whole world. It is almost a historical tradition. But this is where it always ended, and I can assure you, that this is where it will end this time around too. It is as traditional as the conquering itself. Egyptians, since ancient times, call Egypt "El-Mahroosa", meaning "The Protected One"!

What do you mean by saying that you are going to take it easy? And then say that you'll build a new site. Is that how you take it easy?

Bon courage!

Dear

At your command, I read the article and although I do not know anything about the writer, his essay makes a lot of sense.

The final paragraph clearly states the problem now facing the US, and today's killing of an Iraqi cleric spells trouble for a while to come.

Also, the fact that Fleischer continues to claim that the Weapons of Mass Destruction will be found, has me worried that the claim will be put out that the WMD are probably walking to Syria right now; from there, no doubt, they will then migrate to Iran. All this, like Osama bin Laden's disappearance since December 2001, will most probably culminate in a disappearance of Saddam Hussein.

In this way the image of the imminent dangerous people is retained.

In December 2001 I received an email that carried a newspaper article from India where it was stated that bin Laden had died on 25 or 26 December.

That there may be something in this is reflected in the fact that since then the only evidence of bin Laden being alive is those recordings of his messages. One such was proven to be false by a laboratory in Switzerland.

But you know all about that -

Are the French now changing their mood against the US coalition's stance by moving closer to their position? That's the information I just received on TV here.

Today I placed some more pictures on our website - the Ali sadness strikes me, and nothing will justify such suffering, all because a bunch of old men want a war! - and perhaps urged on by their women who are facing some crisis.

I characterised the USA as a bully boy, drugged at that. When I first travelled to the US I was impressed with the kind of eery calmness that pervaded their societal structures, even in New York. I was there, then left and shortly thereafter someone shot and killed seven employees in a Wendy Icecream (?) shop.

I explained this calmness to myself by sensing that the men are like that because they carry handguns, and the women are like that because they are on prozac that's like valium.

The tendency for the general US culture to embrace a quick fix through some pill popping is so obvious.

If you look at the website www.adelaideinstitute.org

you'll see a map of the world, possibly the US world map that gives more information about the mental make-up of its citizens.

OK, it's time for me to take it easy. I am going to burn a couple of CDs of our website, then in a week or so restructure our noisy front page -

Perhaps some issues from France not dealing with the Holocaust but with the general feel of the country's problems could come from you my way...perhaps...perhaps...

Until later

Fredrick
