Continuing Letter from Moscow - conclusion.
18 April 2004
Before the demise of communism there was a saying: In Communism the woman rapes
her man; in capitalism the man rapes his woman. After the fall of the Berlin
Wall most women in Berlin East went immediately to the KDW (Kaufhof des
Westens) and went on a massive shopping spree, and the men went to Beate Uhse,
the sex shop in the West.
And so it is now a fact that the only freedom we have in the west is going
shopping.
And the former eastern block countries are fast catching up to consumerism,
something the Iranians are resisting with all their might.Moscow is a city with close on 11+ million inhabitants, and that brings it in line with the rest of the world's cities of such proportions. It not easy to rule such centres - in fact, they are not being ruled but they continue to exist in the multi-layered fabrics of human endeavour.
Public transport is excellent in Moscow - no graffiti on trains, trams, trolleybuses or buses.
In Moscow there are now international tribunals that are focusing on the
criminal activities perpetrated by NATO on, for example, ex-Yugoslavia, on the
Milosovich political trial - and supported by eminent world figures, such as
ex-General Wolfgang Richter and US Ramsay Clark.
It is a slow process, but nationalist forces are opposing the internationalists
that are currently in control of the US military agenda in Iraq, Palestine, et
al.
The current focus of such tribunals in Russia, Italy, et al, will focus on
liberating Arabian countries form internationalism.
There is a conference in Berlin planned for 17-18 June, so, stay tuned.
The impulses from Russia are strong - and good.
