SUPREME COURT APPOINTEES
ARE A DISASTER, SAYS ERNST ZUNDEL
Dear Free Speech Supporter:
I visited Ernst Zundel, Canada's most famous political prisoner, this
Wednesday at the Metro West Detention Centre. Mr. Zundel keeps up with
the
news through his subscriptions to several newspapers. He'd heard all
about
Justice Minister Irwin Cotler's appointment of two judicial activists
and
strong supporters of the homosexual agenda, his Jewish co-religionist
Rosalie Abella and Louise Charron.
The appointments are a disaster for Canada, Mr. Zundel believes and
are
bad news should the Supreme Court grant him leave to appeal the
constitutionality of the proceedings against him. An application for
leave
(permission) to appeal is currently before the Supreme Court of
Canada. Ian
Binnie had been hired by the Canadian Human Rights Commission to
prosecute
Mr. Zundel under human rights legislation. The case began in 1996. "Binnie
turned Irene," Mr. Zundel said, referring to his ex-wife who testified
against him before the human rights tribunal. Part way through the
case,
Binnie went to his earthly reward on the Supreme Court.
Next, there's recently appointed judge Morris Fish who is Jewish.
Then,
the two current nominees. Madam Justice Louis Charron sat on the
Ontario
Court of Appeals which, on May 10, of this year took all of five
minutes to
turn down Mr. Zundel's appeal against the Ontario Superior Court's
decision not to hear his habeas corpus motion but to let him pursue it
in
Federal Court, an action which may take five years. Then, of course,
there's militant Rosalie Abella. Her husband is the former head of the
Canadian Jewish Congress as was Justice Minister Irwin Cotler.
In a perfect world all four would recuse themselves from hearing the
Zundel case, but in these politically correct times, you can't count
on it.
Mr. Zundel also commented on the article by Andrew Mitrovica in the
current issue of THE WALRUS. The article entitled "Inside Canada's
Hate
Industry: A Spy Tells All," is the self-serving story of CSIS spy
Grant
Bristow's years snooping inside the Heritage Front. Mr. Zundel
observed an
odd sequence of events. "After Mitrovica fought the subpoena to
testify in
my hearing, CSIS gives him access to their prize agent Grant Bristow.
He
interviews Bristow, but this apparent critic of CSIS, writes and gives
birth to a mouse. The article is a sanitized account," says Mr.
Zundel, of
Bristow's spying and promotion of violence.
"Mitrovica," Mr. Zundel added, "has been used as mouthpiece and has
been
totally cowed by CSIS. This article was not incisive in the style of
the
old investigative journalist Andrew Mitrovica once was."
Mr. Zundel warned his supporters to prepare for the long haul. "We
have to
wrap our minds around the fact that Canada has become a dictatorship.
The
trappings of the old order are still in place, but the termites are in
control. We've grown up in an Anglo-Saxon political environment, but
we're
now really more like Mexico, ruled by an oligarchy." Referring to the
politicizition of the courts and human rights tribunals, Mr. Zundel
observed: "All positions in the state apparatus are so vetted that
there
are no mistakes. The oligarchy vets all appointments" to positions of
power.
