Comparing Bush to Hitler Unfair

Lately, there've been some specious comparisons by some rather disgruntled observers of our current political climate comparing Bush to Hitler. Well, in fact, some of these rather disingenuous metaphors and aspersions relating the regime of dictator Bush to Hitler are wildly and fatuously incongruous and quite unfair...to Hitler.

Let's take a brief look at the two individuals to illuminate some of the similarities and disparities.

Similar to the Bush regime, Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany in 1933 as a result of a democratic election process marked by backroom deals and political intrigues. At the time, Germany was facing a climate of extreme financial inflation and depression as a lingering result of the draconian sanctions imposed by the western allies at Versailles subsequent to the first world war. In order to solidify and consolidate overwhelming public support for Hitler's assumption of power, the Reichstag was burned to the ground and the Communists were blamed, leading the Nazis to declare a state of national emergency and institute an entire slate of draconian laws severely limiting the civil rights of all German citizens and institutions alike under the pretext of protecting national security.

As the preceding anecdote reveals, a great deal of obvious corollaries exist relating to their respective regimes' mutual modus operandi. However, there are very few similarities between Hitler and Bush as individuals.

First of all, Hitler served as a young foot soldier in his nation's military and was wounded in battle numerous times. Corporal Hitler served on the front lines as a communications attaché and heroically faced enemy assault, miraculously surviving the devastation of his entire troop on a number of occasions.

George Bush slithered out of military duty during the Viet Nam War by securing a cushy position in the Texas Air National Guard within a group euphemistically referred to as "The Champaign Division." This was a position reserved for the sons of rich and highly connected elitists who had the contacts to avoid involvement in combat operations. Even so, Bush went AWOL and was unaccounted for during an 18-month period while he cavorted around Florida and other locales, supposedly working on the campaigns of his father's Republican buddies. Hitler was a bonafide war hero. Bush, a bonafide rich brat and coward.

Second of all, Hitler was always noted for his extreme sobriety and was a notorious tee-totaler. He was a vegetarian for most of his life and paid scrupulous attention to the maintenance of his health and mental acuity. He authored Mein Kampf, one of the highest-selling and best-known literary works of all time. He was an accomplished artist and scholar of German history. Hitler was born into humble circumstances and lived in poverty during his youth. He worked at menial jobs for years while reading and painting and applying to art school in Vienna. Despite his detractors' criticisms of his political philosophy, even they concede he was one of the most compelling and persuasive orators of all time.

Bush was a notorious drunken philanderer throughout his youth and was 40 before he supposedly sobered up. He was arrested for DUI when he was 30, but yet again, never had to pay any real consequences due to his father's wealth and connections. During his campaign when asked by the press about his rumored history with drugs and alcohol, he continually evaded the question by saying he has been sober since he was 40. Bush has never had a real job in the conventional sense and probably has never filled out a work application in his life. His father's connections provided an easy entrée into the oil business where he was able simply to buy himself into an executive position before assuming the stewardship of the Texas Rangers baseball team under the same type of circumstances. His "job" with the Rangers consisted mainly of glad-handing with the political and financial aristocracy of Houston and Dallas. This led to his establishing an image as a "bonhomie" in the conservative ranks of the Republican Party and his eventual election to the governorship of Texas which, in itself, was a tactical maneuver to position him for the Whitehouse. It is widely rumored that the famous "pretzel" incident which occurred early in his presidency was in fact no more than a cover up for a drunken binge. The official story was that a pretzel got caught in his wind pipe causing him to pass out, which on its face, is patently ridiculous. Thereafter, reliable sources leaked a report that he simply passed out from being over inebriated while watching a football game. Bush's academic credentials are unremarkable at best. He was a sub-average student throughout his academic career. His admission to Yale was obviously a result of, once again, his families connections, as certainly his academic credentials were barely sufficient to warrant admission to any institute of higher learning whatsoever, much less an ivy league one. Quite in contrast with the scholarship of Hitler, it is doubtful if Bush even reads books at all, let alone having authored any. Bush's numerous gaffes, verbal mispronunciations and syntactical blunders during press interviews have become the stuff of legend and stand-up fodder.

Hitler inherited a national economy in a state of ruins. In just two years he revived the German industrial base and brought the German people back to work in droves. He reconstituted a sense of national pride in the German people and directed their renowned work ethic towards rebuilding Germany into a world-class industrial power.

George Bush inherited a national economy which was the envy of the world and brought it to a state of ruins virtually overnight. In the first two years of his regime, two million Americans had lost their jobs and the stock market continued into a precipitous decline.

Bush, who campaigned on the platform of smaller government and reduced spending, has presided over the largest expansion of government bureaucracy and spending largesse in American history. He promises that lowering taxes will put the American people back to work. The problem with someone like Bush who has never had a real job is he doesn't understand that lower taxes are meaningless to the unemployed.

Hitler did surrounded himself with a cabal of racist sycophants who marshaled Germany's resources for the purpose of imperialistic military adventures against her neighbors. He instituted a secret police force for the purpose of controlling and eliminating dissent within the ranks of the bureaucracy and the civilian populace. He also is reputed to have engaged in ethnic and social cleansing techniques against Jews, Gypsies, Poles, homosexuals, and other groups. However, he did these things for the sake of what he considered to be the benefit of Germany and the Aryan race.

Bush has surrounded himself with a cabal of fanatical Zionists and ideologues who have marshaled America's resources for the purpose of imperial designs upon nations many thousands of miles away from her borders that pose no threat to American shores. So who are the beneficiaries? Clearly, he has not done this for the sake of Americans, but for the benefit of Israel and the Zionist fifth column in Washington, his constituency of far-right, loony Christian fanatics, and his petro-fascist pals at Halliburton and the big oil group, since these are the few who will reap any rewards. Certainly, it won't be the American taxpayer and it certainly won't be the Iraqis who benefit from the phony democracy that Don "Himler" Rumsfeld and his flunkies purport to be establishing there.

In fact, this military escapade was launched upon a farrago of lies, propaganda and a charade involving so called "weapons of mass destruction" which has since been proven false by default. The only real "accomplishment" that can be claimed as a result is the alienation of most of America's allies and the dismantling of the institutional framework of international law and diplomacy which has been the lynchpin of world stability for over half a century.

Bush and his cohorts, John " Big Brother" Ashcroft and "Slick" Dick Cheney, have worked to institute broad and sweeping attacks on civil liberties and effectively dismantled the Constitution through the so called " Patriot Act." Bush has summarily converted America into the visage of a Texas-style police state on steroids. After the Pentagon's domination of a third-world, rag-tag army in Iraq, he set up the Navy as a stage prop for a crude and shameless photo op as he strutted and pranced across the decks of an aircraft carrier touting his "glorious victory." He is using the American military for his own, personal self aggrandizement and for the financial and geo-political advantage of his cronies in the Carlyle Group.

The main difference between Bush and Hitler was that Hitler worked on behalf of Germany and the Aryan People with a view towards ending the financial and political stranglehold the Zionist Jews enjoyed in Europe. Bush operates on behalf and at the behest of this alien power structure that vests its allegiance in the greater hegemony of the Zionist supremacists across the globe and the petro-power elite in America, not on behalf of real working Americans.

In short, Bush is a traitor, pure and simple. Hitler simply doesn't begin to compare.
